Spring travel sticker shock!
This year travelers are taking a new approach to their travel. With the rising fuel costs and increasing traveler demands, prices of flights have incresed, forcing many travelers to choose driving to their destination. Many flights have doubled or even tripled in the past few weeks. Even hotel prices are up 40% from this time last year.
Does this mean people are not traveling? Absolutely not! TSA reports 2 million travelers at TSA security checkpoints over the weekends. That is up 85% to 90% from 2019.
Expect airfare to rise an average of 7% per month toward July for domestic flights.
Transatlantic travel is down due to the geopolitical situations as Americans are rethinking their options. The expectation is that Americans will opt to stay closer to home, increasing the demand for stateside destinations.
